Father Amorth on Removing Curses, Psychics and Exorcism

Psychics, Magicians and Sorcerers cannot remove curses, perform an exorcism, or deliverance. A lay person who prays and rejects Satan and his works can pray over an afflicted person in what is called a deliverance, but the actual Rite of Exorcism can only be performed by a Catholic (or ex Orthodox Russian, Coptic, Orthodox Syrian, Orthodox Greek) ordained Priest (not a protestant minister or psychic or layperson).

The Rite of Exorcism is a very specific set of prayers that only a priest can say. Defeating Satan hinges on being humble, as arrogance is itself demonic. So it be arrogant and say, "a non-priest will perform the exorcism" will only severely aggravate the activity of evil in a person's life. Because essentially, the arrogant person is working with evil through disobedience.

I made this video because several "psychics" posted comments on some of my other videos advertising their services to remove curses, exorcise demons, and so on.

It is my hope that no one will trust a "psychic" or sorcerer or magician with the fate of their soul.

Satan, defeated by Christ, fights against Christ's followers. The battle against the evil spirits "was joined from the very origins of the world, and will continue until the last day, as the Lord has attested" (Gaudium et Spes, no. 37). During this time, every person is on battle alert because life on earth is a trial of faithfulness to God. "We strive therefore to please the Lord in all things (2 Cor 5:9). We put on the armor of God that we may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil and resist on the evil day.... For before we reign with the glorious Christ, all of us will have to appear 'before the tribunal of Christ [judgement], so that each one may receive what he has won through the body, according to his works, whether good or evil' (2 Cor 5: 10)"

"Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand" (Eph. 6:10-13)
