CANDLE NOVENA TO SAINT CLARE OF ASSISI

This novena has been a miracle worker in my family for several years.

I don't want to embarrass any of the family members, but we owe a lot to Saint Clare!

At the end of the video, you can see our cat trying to get a good look at the candle.

This devotional candle was made by printing out a picture of Saint Clare (with a family member who has requested prayers), and looping the paper around the candle.

It seems appropriate to use a candle when praying to Saint Clare because, as the prayer says, her name means "light."

And Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. No follower of Mine shall ever walk in darkness; no, he shall possess the light of life" (Jn 8:12)

If you wish, you can copy and print out the prayer here:

CANDLE NOVENA TO SAINT CLARE OF ASSISI

We begin by praying nine Hail Marys in front of a lighted candle. We do this for nine days.

Then we pray:

God of Mercy, You inspired Saint Clare with the love of poverty.

By the help of her prayers, may we follow Jesus in His poverty of spirit and come to the joyful vision of Your glory in the Kingdom of Heaven.

We ask this through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God, forever and ever.

Amen.

Blessed Saint Clare, whose very name means light, illumine the darkness of our minds and hearts so we might see what God wishes us to do, and perform it with a willing and joyful heart.

Please hear my intentions, Saint Clare.

(Say your intentions here.)

Saint Clare, thank you for hearing me. I know that you will pray for me so I may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be praised, adored, glorified and loved today, and everyday, throughout the world, forever.

Amen.
